This pattern has safety eye AND crocheted eye instructions included in the pattern.
To make this Venus Fly Trap Plush Pattern, you’ll need the following materials:
• Size 5 bulky/chunky weight chenille yarn (amounts and colors available in the pattern)
• Crochet Hooks: 4.50mm crochet hook or whatever is needed to achieve the correct gauge for the main body, and 4.00mm or whatever is needed to achieve the correct gauge for the eyes and crest details
• 4” square of white craft felt (for the highlights of the eyes) OR some other way to create a highlight such as white acrylic paint, embroidery or needle felting.
• 14-gauge wire for shaping the tail. Approx. 2 ft (aka 1/2 yard). And thinner, 20-gauge wire for shaping the legs. Approx. 10 ft (aka 3 yards)
• Wire cutters
• Polyester Stuffing (approx. 5 oz)
• Stitch markers
• Tapestry needle
• OPTIONAL: two 50mm round black safety eyes
Pattern Skill Level: Intermediate. Beginners are not recommended for this project due to the complexity needed to create the mouth.
Sizing: With size 5 yarn and 4.50 hook, creature is 12” long (with tail curled into place) and 22” circumference around the widest part of the mouth.
