To make the Butter Fly crochet pattern, you’ll need the following materials:
• Size 5 bulky/chunky weight Chenille aka “plush” or blanket yarn.
• Size H/5.00mm crochet hook or whatever is needed to achieve the correct gauge
• Tapestry needle
• Locking stitch markers and/or pins
• Polyester Stuffing
• 20-gauge wire – around 8ft (for the wings and all six legs)
• To make the “Butter” lettering:
o Glue – I like either Aleene’s Tacky Glue or even better, Beacon: Fabri-Tac
o Choose between printing out the template (included in the pattern) and using felt and scissors to cut them out, OR you can also buy 1” tall red letters already laser cut for you (I got mine off Amazon; feel free to message me for a link)
o NOTE: for the lettering, you may substitute the felt for either embroidery, needle felting or painting – it’s completely up to you.
• Optional Supplies:
o To make the cross hatching on the eyes: Either needle felting needles and a small amount of black wool OR black acrylic paint (puffy paint or regular acrylic paint will work) and a thin paint brush
Gauge Swatch instructions are included with the pattern.
The Butter Fly is NOT a toy and is not intended for use by children.
